Junior Estimator
Service Specialists recruiting agency is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Junior Estimator for a commercial construction company. This individual will be responsible for assisting in the preparation of accurate and competitive cost estimates for various construction projects. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with other team members.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Reviews and evaluates requests for proposals.
2. Adequately read building plans, specifications, and schedules for preparing estimates.
3. Prepares weekly bid calendar and ensures timely completion of estimates.
4. Develop scope letters for all divisions of work.
5. Coherently make phone calls to discuss scopes of work with subcontractors.
6. Reviews subcontractor estimates and revisions for completeness and accuracy.
7. Prepares estimates on computer by summarizing material, labor, equipment, subcontractor and overhead cost incurred in the installation of items.
8. Be able to create an estimate from scratch.
9. Creates job folders.
10. Be able to populate and send out electronic invitations for bid on Building Connected and other related software.
11. Be able to use Microsoft Excel for many purposes including creating a matrix to track Subcontractor participation in bidding projects.
12. Be able to effectively turn awarded projects over to operations and explains scope, constructability, subcontractor prices, plug prices, and general conditions.
13. Maintains and improves pricing databases.
14. Develops and maintains cost data, including labor and equipment rates, installation methods and production rates.
15. Develops and maintains estimating procedures and guidelines.
16. Prepares reports as needed.
17. Makes sure to report to department head for anything needed to function efficiently and effectively in regard to equipment and materials needed related to estimating.
18. Develops and maintains resource information on products, vendors, subcontractors, government requirements, etc.
19. Attends branch meetings as required.
POSITION REQUIRES THE ABILITY TO:
Adequately read plans and specifications for all types of projects. Plan, coordinate and direct the estimating functions, including administering budgets, estimates staffing, work assignments, salary and performance reviews, etc. Develops and implements all department standards and procedures, and is responsible for review of all final estimates packages to ensure accuracy and completeness.
Salary, $60k-$70k
