Senior Accountant
Seeking a Senior Accountant to join an accounting team for a corporation in Madison, MS. This position will play a key role in managing the company’s success by overseeing daily cash and credit card operations, providing audit support, maintaining fixed asset records, and contributing to month-end financial close activities.
- Assists the Director of Finance and Accounting with ensuring that the Company's accounting policies, systems and processes are in compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
- Manages daily cash postings and credit cards.
- Fixed Asset Management - Ensures accurate record keeping and depreciation postings.
- Prepares interim consolidated financial statements as required.
- Performs ongoing general ledger maintenance for month-end close.
- Supports the annual financial audit and annual tax return preparation process preparing requested information.
- Prepares customer billing.
- Supports acquisition and/or major transaction accounting requirements.
- Performs research of accounting treatment of transactions.
- Prepares information in support of quarterly Board of Directors meetings.
- Prepares, reconciles and maintains subsidiary ledgers.
- Reviews, analyzes and reconciles accounting transactions.
- Prepares annual property tax returns.
- Prepares supporting data for annual System for Award Management (SAM) reporting.
- Supports month-end and year-end closing of the books.
- Performs accounts receivable collections.
- Prepares numerous ad hoc reports and performs other tasks as requested in support of the Director of Finance and Accounting.
- Records recurring accounting transactions in the general ledger
- All other duties as requested.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field.
- 5-7 years of progressive experience in corporate accounting.
- CPA preferred.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and QuickBooks.
- Federal government contracting experience preferred.
- DCAA Compliance experience a plus.
- Experience with working with multiple legal entities preferred.
- Solid working knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting requirements.
- Valid driver’s license required.
