Paralegal
Seeking a Workers' Compensation Paralegal for a successful firm in Ridgeland, MS. The first few months of training is in-office, with potential hybrid schedule after that.
Responsibilities:
- Review file materials for immediate needs, deadlines, extensions and paralegal tasks and contact client for missing key documents
- Prepare File Summary and Medical Summary – update as additional information is received
- Assist with preparation of Commission forms and/or pleadings (at attorney direction)
- Prepare initial draft of written discovery for attorney review
- Prepare initial discovery responses and coordinate document production
- Review incoming mail for immediate needs and paralegal tasks
- Request medical records, personnel files, Freedom of Information documents, project files
- Review document production for additional needs and possible summary
- Assist in preparation for depositions, mediations, hearings and trial
- Coordinates with multiple parties to schedule Employer Medical Examinations/Independent Medical Examinations and prepares documentation as per physician’s policy
- Coordinate with attorney regarding initial preparation of settlement documents
- Follow-up to ensure settlement is approved and finalized pursuant to applicable Commission rules
- Other billable tasks as assigned

- Performs other duties as necessary or assigned
Requirements:
- 4-6 Years’ of Experience
- 2-4 YOE in Litigation/Insurance Defense and Workers Compensation Experience
- Paralegal Certification if less than 10 YOE
- History of billing and being able to meet benchmark
- Able to manage 170 matters at a time
- Stable job history with references
Salary: $40,000-$70,000 DOE + Benefits
